Easily recognizable by its maple leaf shape, momiji-manju is a baked sweet usually filled with sweet bean paste. Other fillings, like custard or chocolate, are also popular. Miyajima’s momiji-manju are the most famous, but they can be purchased all around Hiroshima. A box or two of momoji-manju makes a great souvenir.
