Hiroshima’s location close to the sea lends it to being a prime location for oyster farms, where fresh oysters are gathered year-round. However, oysters are very popular in the winter, the season in which they are said to have the best taste. They are often served deep-fried or grilled, but can also be eaten raw. In particular, deep-fried oysters from Kure and Miyajima are very popular.
